UrbanCred Reopening Event feat. ExcessorizeMe

Based on your feedback (and honestly, our own frustrations), we knew something had to change. The ramp at our old space became a daily headache. It made load-ins harder, limited accessibility, and just didn’t feel seamless. When we started looking for a new spot, one thing was clear: we wanted direct ground-level access. No barriers. No friction. Just walk in.

Location was another big factor. We wanted a storefront that was easier to discover — somewhere with more natural visibility, more foot traffic, and a stronger presence. Our previous space had potential, but it wasn’t working as hard for us as we needed it to.

Ironically, one of the features we originally loved about the old shop — the high ceilings — ended up working against us. We thought the height would make the store feel grand and open. Instead, it made it feel… empty. We couldn’t fully utilize the vertical space, and it created a disconnect between how much we had and how much we could display.

The new space is smaller, yes — but it’s far more intentional. It feels intimate. Every inch is used efficiently. The layout flows better. The overall aesthetic feels cohesive. And surprisingly, we actually gained more functional storage than before. We even carved out a small coffee station, which feels very on-brand for us.

Sometimes, less space forces better design. And that’s exactly what happened here.

How ExcessorizeMe Got Involved

The Ed from UrbanCred and ExcessorizeMe met a few years back and have kept in touch since. It was one of those natural connections that just kept building through conversations about gear, community, and creativity.

Then one day, he happened to be in the neighborhood. There wasn't a master plan laid out months in advance. It was literally a “why not?” moment. One thing led to another, and we decided to throw together a last-minute event.

Was it rushed? Yes.
Did we panic in the final stretch? Absolutely.
Did it turn out amazing? Well duh!

The energy was real. Everyone who came out made it special. We even produced a last-minute sticker run just for the event. Ed was shooting out lattes throughout the day. ExcessorizeMe was chatting it up. We gave away free bags from the ExcessorizeMe and UrbanCred founder collection. And someone even traded for a Max backpack on the spot.

For something that came together so quickly, it felt organic, exciting, and exactly what we want UrbanCred to be about: community, spontaneity, and shared passion for gear.

If you missed it, here are photos from the event. And don’t worry — this won’t be the last time we do something like this. Keep updated with our next events in our "Upcoming Events" page under the "Explore" tab.
