UrbanCred Encore Market Update
We’ve made the decision to close the UrbanCred Encore Market.
This ultimately comes down to two things: low usage and the increasing cost of running and maintaining the platform. While we still believe in the idea behind Encore Market, the reality is that it wasn’t being used in a way that justified the operational overhead.
That said, this is not a permanent goodbye. We’re putting Encore Market on the back burner, with the intention of revisiting it in the future when we’re in a better position to support it properly—both operationally and financially.

Moving Forward: Discord BST Marketplace
In the meantime, we’re shifting all Buy / Sell / Trade (BST) activity to our Discord.
This approach is simpler, more direct, and aligns better with how our community is already interacting.
Inside the Discord BST section, you’ll find:
- Dedicated sale posts
- A discussion channel for questions and interaction
Structured listings with key details like:
- Price
- Materials
- Condition (new, used, etc.)
- Relevant product information

BST Rules (Read Before Posting)
To keep things clean and useful for everyone, the following rules are enforced:
- No price = post will be removed
- Photos are required
- Must be your own photos
- Supplementary internet photos are allowed for detail/reference.
Clearly label your post:
- WTS (Want to Sell)
- WTB (Want to Buy)
- WTT (Want to Trade)
- ISO (In Search Of)
- Update your post when SOLD
No auctions unless approved by a MOD

Key Difference from Encore Market
The biggest shift is this:
Encore Market was designed to act as a middleman—handling things like shipping labels, security, and insurance.
However, since usage didn’t justify that system, the Discord BST operates differently.
- Buyers and sellers are responsible for transactions themselves
- Common methods: Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, etc.
- UrbanCred does not facilitate or intervene in transactions

What’s Live Right Now
The UC team has already listed items for sale—these are real, active listings.
For example, the Konbu CAP2 has already been sold.
Inventory will continue to rotate, so it’s worth checking in regularly—you might come across something great.

We’ve implemented tags to make browsing easier.
- Use tags properly when posting
- Mark items as SOLD in both:
- The title
- The tags
We’re actively improving this system—if you have suggestions, drop them in the BST discussion channel.

Local Community Advantage (NYC)
If you’re local, we strongly encourage using the UrbanCred NYC store as a safe meetup point for:
- Exchanges
- Pickups
- Trades
Additionally, our monthly meetups are a great opportunity to:
- Connect with the community
- See items in person
- Trade in a more social setting
For example, at our upcoming meetup on April 18th, 2026, we’ll have the co-founder of Brevite joining us.

Similar to the Monthly Carry Club Meetup, this shift only works if the community participates.
Encore Market was structured. Discord BST is community-driven.
We’re looking forward to seeing how this evolves—and hopefully grows into something even more active, flexible, and valuable for everyone involved.
