Code of Bell X-PAK SPORT — Classic Ignited. Evolution Restored.

We got our hands on the Code of Bell X-PAK SPORT before it hit customers' doors. Ed and Frank sat down at the UrbanCred shop in Greenpoint to give you the real first look — no hype, just the bag.

What Is the X-PAK SPORT?

Code of Bell has been quietly building one of the most thoughtful sling bag lineups in EDC — and the X-PAK SPORT is the piece that completes it. It slots in between the compact X-POD II (the everyday small sling) and the full-featured X-PAK EVO (the laptop-capable large). The SPORT is the "just right" middle size that COFB fans have been asking for since the original X-PAK ONE launched back in 2017.

COFB calls this the Golden Ratio size. After handling it in the shop, we'd say that it's accurate.

Our First Look: Real Talk from the Shop

Ed and Frank broke the bag down at the UrbanCred Greenpoint shop. Here's what stood out.

The size is exactly what it should be

The X-PAK SPORT lives in that sweet spot most bags miss. It's not so small that you're constantly leaving things behind, and not so big that it becomes a commitment. At 7L folded, it rides slim and low-profile. Expand it to 11.5L, and you've got real daily carry capacity. That's the whole pitch, and it works.

The X-Pod can be great if you are someone who minimizes their carry, but the X-PAK SPORT is a good compromise on space and size.

AquaGuard zippers throughout

The AquaGuard zips run the full bag, not just the front compartment. That's not a given even at this price point. Combined with the X-PAC laminated front panel, you're getting serious weather resistance without the bag feeling like gear. Clamshell opening for easy packing, but the zippers allow enough resistance to half-open for quickly grabbing things as well.

The front pocket is versatile — with one caveat

The vertical front pocket opens wide enough to function as a water bottle holder, which is a welcome addition. The caveat: it cuts off depth-wise, so tall skinny bottles may not sit fully inside. You'll want to keep that in mind when packing for the day. The grab handle on top of the strap helps secure taller items via carabiners or hereclips if needed.\

The mini side pocket is great but...

It works well for AirPods, coin pouches, charging wires, etc but it doesn't have a zipper garage as it zips up, so there is a possibility of water slipping in. But according to our tests, it doesn't make a big difference in normal rain. Just watch out for crazy downpours.

The back panel is a real upgrade over the X-POD

The back mesh on the SPORT is noticeably more padded and has wider air channels than the X-POD II. If you've carried the X-POD in summer — especially on a scooter or commute — you know it can heat up on your back. The SPORT's mesh panel addresses that directly. More ventilation, more comfort on longer carries.

The FIDLOCK buckle

The self-locking magnetic FIDLOCK buckle on the strap is one of those features you don't fully appreciate until you've used it daily. One-handed release, snaps shut magnetically — no fumbling. It's the kind of hardware choice that shows COFB is sweating the details.

Strap switches shoulders

The strap adjusts to carry on either the right or left shoulder. Frank mentioned it as a standout feature — and while most people will set it once and forget it, the option matters if you share the bag or want to switch up carry position throughout the day.

Bottom line

This is a bag that does exactly what it says. The X-PAK SPORT fills a real gap in the COFB lineup and carries the same premium hardware and materials you expect from the brand just in a more accessible, everyday size. The back panel ventilation improvement alone makes it a meaningful upgrade over the X-POD for warmer weather carry, and the expandable front compartment gives you flexibility most slings at this size don't offer.

It sold out during pre-order. That tells you everything you need to know about the demand.
