Here Are The 6 Essentials To Pack When You Travel Solo

Travel is one of the best ways to broaden your mind, relax, and escape the same dull patterns of your day-to-day existence. Sometimes, though, travel itself can become mundane when you take the same trips with the same people. That’s why more people are striking it on their own and traveling solo.

Why Travel Solo?

Here are 3 great reasons to travel solo.

1.      You need the space.

In your fast-paced everyday life, you’re surrounded by people from morning until night. Even if you don’t live with anyone and work remotely, you still have to interact with the people you work with. Sometimes it’s refreshing to break away from all that for a little solitude, even if it’s solitude among strangers.

2.      You’re tired of always taking other people’s trips.

Maybe you’ve never gotten to plan a trip. Instead, you’re always going on someone else’s. Now is your opportunity to take the wheel!

3.      You want to boost your self-esteem.

Taking a solo trip where you handle yourself responsibly, have a good time, and come home in one piece is a great self-esteem booster.

6 Essentials To Pack When You Travel Solo

Venturing out on your own solo adventure for the first time, whether it’s across the country or across the pond, is a pretty big deal! As such, you need to make sure you pack the right essentials. Remember, it’s just you on the road. You won’t have a friend or family member to depend on to have the Dramamine you always forget or the spare phone charger.

If it’s not your first time going it alone, you should still doublecheck your list against these 6 essentials.

1.      Portable Phone Charger

A portable phone charger will be indispensable for those times on your amazing adventure that you can’t get to an outlet. You may be on a mountain hike or a cruise in a canoe and discover that your phone only has 5 percent left. Or you could be stuck in an airport and all the chargers are already full. Not to worry, though, because you have your portable one ready to go. (It also makes a handy backup in case you lose your wall charger.)

2.      Pill Organizer

A pill organizer is much easier for keeping your pills and supplements contained for your trip than taking each individual bottle. You can even buy a daily pill organizer so that all you have to do is pop open the compartment for the day and take the pills inside. One bonus benefit is you may be more likely to remember to take your pills because they’re all together in the same container.

3.      Acupressure Wristbands

Do you get motion sickness easy? You can take Dramamine, but you can also try using acupressure wristbands. These wristbands help relieve nausea by placing pressure on specific points on your wrists. They’re small and easy to whip out as needed.

4.      Reusable Water Bottle

Chances are that whatever hotel or cruise you’re staying is going to charge you upwards of $5 just for a bottled water. Save the money and bring your own reusable water bottle.

5.      Emergency Contact List

Keep a small notebook or laminated card in your bag with an emergency contact list, including your primary care doctor. This way if something happens to you, medical professionals will be able to get a hold of the right people to help you.

6.      Pepper Spray Or Noisemaker

When traveling alone, it’s always a smart deal to bring extra protection. Purchase a high-quality pepper spray or noisemaker and learn how to use it before you leave for your trip.
