Land Rover's newest vehicle is a redesign of a classic.

Land Rover has recently announced the new Land Rover Defender. Launching in the Spring of 2020, there will be two versions available with an additional limited edition version. The two versions are the Defender 110 which arrives in the Spring 2020 and the Defender 90 which arrives later in the year during the Fall. Finally, the First Edition Defender 90 will arrive in Summer 2020 with a price tag of $66,000. The Defender 110? Just a bit over $50,000.

Want to see it in action? It'll be seen in the upcoming James Bond movie, No Time To Die. It's the first movie to feature the New Defender and be apart of the legendary line of vehicles to star in the car chase scene. Footage captured from the filming of the movie gives an awesome, behind the scenes from the stunt coordinator Lee Morrison and stunt driver Jessica Hawkins. It's a short but very cool look at what the vehicle had to go through to shoot the shots they needed for the latest James Bond movie.

Land Rover hasn't sold a new Defender in the U.S. since 1997 but next year will allow buyers to pick one up. They'll come in S, SE, HSE, and X trims with limited-run First Edition. The top of the line starts at $81,900, reaching upwards to $82,000. 

All new Defenders, 90 and 110, use an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF and have a maximum towing capacity of 8201 pounds. They will both come with...

Higher trim versions will come with Configurable Terrain Response, an option for Terrain Response that can be individually configured to control the powertrain, steering, differentials, and traction control settings for off-road performance. 

In addition, Land Rover is offering four packs to customize the driving experience depending on your lifestyle.

• Adventure Pack - Take your passions to new territories. Adventure Pack equips the Defender to take you off the beaten track and into nature’s playground.
• Country Pack - Bring the muddiest of boots. Country Pack equips the Defender to embrace the elements and make every journey truly memorable.
• Urban Pack - Conquer the concrete jungle. Urban Pack equips the Defender to stand out in the suburbs with head‑turning style, confidence, and composure.

Fans of the Land Rover vehicles, we love the redesign of the old school Defender. They did a great job bringing it to modern times while still retaining the shape and overall design of the Defender. While many are against the new design, it's a difficult crowd to please. 

“The new Defender is respectful of its past but is not harnessed by it.” 

You can clearly tell this is a Defender, but their focus was making an off-road-capable vehicle that would appeal to drivers around the globe, not paying homage to a dead design. When stepping forward to create something new, it's easy to make something that everyone had loved but we commend Land Rover to create something new and modern while paying homage to the Defender heritage.
