Phone, wallet, keys and a little more
For errands, coffee runs and nights out. A small sling or pouch keeps essentials on your body and out of your pockets, and stays out of the way on a crowded train.
What to look for:
- Enough room for your phone, wallet, keys and one extra (sunglasses, a tech pouch)
- A strap that adjusts quickly so you can swing it to the front
- Water-resistant fabric like X-Pac or Ultra if you're out in the weather

The daily driver. Big enough for a laptop, charger, water bottle and a layer, small enough to wear on a packed train or under a desk without taking over.
What to look for:
- A padded laptop sleeve that fits your laptop (see the FAQ below)
- An outside bottle pocket and a quick-grab pocket for your phone and transit card
- Around 13–20L for most commutes; go bigger if you bring gym clothes

- A clamshell or wide opening so you can pack like a suitcase
- Room for packing cubes and a shoe or dirty-laundry spot
- A comfortable harness: sternum strap, padded back panel

What to look for:
- A tech pouch for chargers and cables
- A toiletry or wash pouch sized for your trips
- Strapless pouches for inside a bag; strap-ready ones double as a mini sling

Carry questions
Frequently asked
What size bag do I need?
A rough guide by liters: under 5L for essentials (phone, wallet, keys), 5–20L for a work or school day with a laptop, 20–30L for overnight and weekend trips, and 30–45L for carry-on travel of a week or more. If you're between sizes, think about your fullest day, not your average one.
Which backpacks fit a 16-inch laptop?
The Able Carry Daily Plus, AER City Pack Pro 2, AER Travel Pack 4, Evergoods Civic Travel Bag, Rework Toshi Pack 20L, DAYFARER V2 and DAYFARER 18L all fit laptops up to 16". The Evergoods Civic Panel Loader fits most 16" MacBooks. Stock changes often, so check the product page for availability.
Which backpacks fit a 17-inch laptop?
The Able Carry Max EDC (26L) and Max Backpack 32L both fit laptops up to 17".
Will this bag fit as a carry-on?
Most bags in our 30–45L range are designed around common carry-on size limits. Limits vary by airline and route, especially on budget and international carriers, so check your airline's current size and weight rules before you fly. If a bag is expandable, measure it the way you'll pack it.
Sling, shoulder bag, or backpack?
A sling sits across your body and swings to the front for quick access, which is best for essentials and crowded places. A shoulder bag or tote carries more and is easy to get in and out of, but puts the weight on one side. A backpack spreads weight across both shoulders and is the most comfortable for heavy loads and long days. Many of our customers pair a daily backpack with a small sling.
What's the difference between X-Pac, Ultra and Cordura?
X-Pac is a laminated sailcloth fabric: light, stiff and very water resistant. Ultra (UHMWPE-based fabrics) is lighter and stronger for its weight, with excellent abrasion resistance. Cordura is a tough woven nylon with a softer, more classic feel that wears in over time. All three are durable; the choice is mostly weight, weather resistance and the look you like.
Are bags covered by a warranty?
Yes. Everything you buy from us keeps the original manufacturer's warranty. For example, Able Carry has a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, and Aer and Evergoods cover defects in materials and workmanship for life. For a possible defect, email support@urbancred.com with your order number and photos.

Yes. Visit our store at 67 West St, Brooklyn, NY 11222, Wednesday to Sunday from 1 to 7 PM. Online orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery if they're unused, in original packaging and resalable.
